Jess Elle Photography
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, I began making photographs at the age of 15 with my mother's 35 mm Minolta which she never used. I began taking the camera everywhere with me, documenting my life and producing terrible photographs using the Automatic setting with on-camera flash. Somehow I evolved and am now studying at Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, New York.

Photography has become an outlet for my sub-conscious and I learn more about myself and my environment with each photograph that I make. My work has become increasingly personal to the point where I question why I am sharing it with the world, but I love what I do and I enjoy the idea that other people can possibly relate to it, so I continue because it has become involuntary.

I am curious as to why we share such self-indulgent art with one another, and if it can actually achieve human connection and empathy in a world obsessed with pop-culture, self-image, and sex appeal. Can art transcend such broad topics and bring us to really connect to one another on a higher level? If not, then I have been wasting my time. However, I feel that reviewing another human's existence in the form of art - whether it be photography, drawing, painting, music, dance, etc. is a beautiful concept, and

I am flattered that you have taken the time to do so.
